WoW The Recruit-A-Friend Guide

Getting Started with Recruit-A-Friend
* 1. Using the Veteran account, go to http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/ and click on Account Management on the right side.
* 2. Log in to your account. Choose the Recruit a Friend option.
* 3. Fill out the Recruit-a-Friend form. Send the invite to your friend’s email or your own.
* 4. Have your friend check their email (or check your email if that’s where you sent it) and get the Authentication code.
* 5. Have your friend (or you if you’re going to make a second account) go to http://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/menu.html
* 6. Choose the Create New Account option.
* 7. Enter the Authentication key from the email in step 4.
* 8. Complete the Account Creation process.
You now have linked a new Trial Account with your Veteran Account! If you want to double check and make sure they are linked, log in to the Veteran account management again and look under the RAF section. That will show you what invites you have sent out and what accounts you have currently linked to yours.
Upgrade World of Warcraft
There are many things that a trial account cannot do that will become annoying and frustrating before too long. So I recommend one of three things.
* 1. If your Recruit is truly new to WoW or new to MMOs, wait the 10 days of the trial period or until you’re level 20. You don’t want to pay for a game if your Recruit decides he/she doesn’t like the game.
* 2. If you plan to only get to level 60 and no further then upgrade to Vanilla from your Account Management page on WorldofWarcraft.com. You can always transfer the level 60 character from the Recruit to the Veteran if you’re just using it as a secondary account for quick level and/or the X-53 Touring Rocket Mount.
* 3. If the Recruit account is going to stay active all the way to level 80 then you will need to purchase Vanilla and both expansions. The most cost effective way to do this is to purchase a World of Warcraft Battlechest (Vanilla and BC) and WotLK from your games store.
Pros
As long as the Veteran and Recruit are within 4 levels, close proximity and in a group you will receive a 300% xp bonus from all sources. This includes mobs, quests and exploration.
Veteran and Recruit accounts can summon each other from anywhere once an hour. This is useful for things like if the Recruit wants to start a human and the Veteran wants to start a night elf.
The Recruit will earn a ‘gift level’ for every two levels they earn. Veterans do not earn ‘gift levels’. See the Official FAQ for more information.
After the Recruit account pays for a 60 day subscription, the Veteran account will be able to redeem one X-53 Touring Rocket via the Account Management page.
After the Recruit account upgrades to at least Vanilla, the Veteran account receives one month of free subscription time.
Cons
You can level three times as fast as anyone else! How can there be downsides to that? Well leveling three times as fast is the problem. You will out-level your professions, weapon skills, gear and spells so quickly you can’t keep up without high-level sponsorship. You simply will not be able to afford all the training, on your own income… let alone all the profession skill-ups and gear upgrades. So I strongly recommend a high-level sponsor from the Veteran account who will take care of your funding needs.
As far as weapon and defensive skills goes, that will just have to be something you work on as best you can while you move along. Your leveling speed will get quite a bit slower when you reach level 60 and that should give you plenty of time to play catch-up on your skills.
Leveling Tips!
* Create a macro on both accounts that will /follow the other.
* Have a friend with a Grand Mammoth passenger mount? Enlist their help to get all your flight paths!
* Supply your new characters with the biggest bags money can buy. The speed at which you level makes it hard to want to stop. The more junk you can carry means the fewer trips into town you will need.
* Plan ahead! Purchase all your new character’s upgrades ahead of time and have them ready to mail as soon as your characters need them.
Where to Level?
There are two methods you can use to level (or a mixture of both). You can quest, or you can instance grind. Both methods can get you and your friend to 60 in under 2 days of /played time.
Questing – This method only requires the Veteran and Recruit to party together and do quests together. You can easily skip any group quests that require more than 2 people because the xp from all the other quests more than compensates for skipping. At times, this method can be a little slower than instances but other times it can be greatly faster.

ALLIANCE
* 1-20 – If both accounts have upgraded to BC then I recommend the Draenei lands of Azuremyst and Bloodmyst. These areas have the best concentration of quests with minimal traveling and by far the best leveling greens for a starting area. If one or both of the accounts do not have BC then the second best area would be the Human lands of Elwynn Forest and Westfall.
* 20-30 – Quest in Redridge Mountains then Duskwood.
* 30-40 – Stranglethorn Vale
* 40-50 – Swamp of Sorrows then Felwood
* 50-60 – Winterspring then Western Plaguelands then Eastern Plaguelands if needed.
HORDE
* 1-20 – If both accounts have upgraded to BC then I recommend the Blood Elf lands of Eversong Woods and Ghostlands. These areas have the best concentration of quests with minimal traveling and by far the best leveling greens for a starting area. If one or both of the accounts do not have BC then the second best area would be the Undead lands of Tirisfal Glades and Silverpine Forest.
* 20-30 – Quest in Hillsbrad Foothills then Arathi Highlands.
* 30-40 – Stranglethorn Vale
* 40-50 – Swamp of Sorrows then Felwood
* 50-60 – Winterspring then Western Plaguelands then Eastern Plaguelands if needed.
Instances – This method requires hours of clearing the same instance over and over until you’re high enough level for the next instance. This also requires having a high-level character willing to run the Recruit and Veteran accounts thru these instances. This is the fastest method of leveling but can also sometimes be very tedious and boring.
ALLIANCE
* 1-10 – Any starting zone will do just fine.
* 10-15 – Deadmines
* 15-25 – Stockades
* 25-35 – Scarlet Monastery
* 35-45 – Zul’Farrak
* 45-55 – Stratholme
* 55-60 – Blackrock Spire
HORDE
* 1-8 – Any starting zone will do just fine.
* 8-14 – Ragefire Chasm
* 14-20 – Wailing Caverns
* 20-25 – Razorfen Kraul
* 25-35 – Scarlet Monastery
* 35-45 – Zul’Farrak
* 45-55 – Stratholme
* 55-60 – Blackrock Spire

WoW Reforging Cataclysm Preview

Reforging was added to the WoW Cataclysm to allow more gear options for players and to reduce the number of unpopular or common items dropped in instances that were left to rot or simply disenchanted and is not in any way intended to be use on all items. It should be with this in mind that players decide to use the reforging process. So for example if an item drops with Spirit instead of the Haste you need, you may still be able to use it as Haste can be added by reforging it. So the next time a piece of gear drops that doesn’t quite fit your ideal stats, don’t pass it up, take a moment to think it over and using the information provided above consider if reforging could make it the perfect piece of gear for you.

Reforgable Stats

* Critical Strike Rating
* Dodge Rating
* Expertise Rating
* Haste Rating
* Hit Rating
* Mastery Rating
* Parry Rating
* Spirit

Non Reforgable Stats

* Agility
* Intellect
* Stamina
* Strength
* You also may not use reforging to add to a stat that is already on the item.

The Reforging Process

Players must visit one of the Reforging NPCs that can be found near the Enchanting trainer. Before you make your way here though, be sure to have the piece of gear you wish to reforge in your bags. Once you arrive at the Arcane Reforger simply right click on the NPC to open the Reforging menu.

Once opened reforging an item is a rather easy process. Simply place the item you wish to reforge in the box in the top left hand corner (next to the text that says “Drag an item here to reforge it). Once an item is in place, two new drop down menus appear. The first allows the player to choose what stat from the item they wish to reduce in place of another. This menu will only list stats that are available for the process and will also display how much the chosen stat will be reduced.

Once the stat is chosen that the player wishes to reduce the next drop down menu will become active. This menu will allow the player to choose a stat to add to the item and will also display how much of that stat will be added. Once chosen players can view the current stats side by side with the pending stat changes just below the drop down menus. The price of the reforging process will also be displayed. Check to be sure the changes appear to be correct and then simply hit the reforge button at the bottom of the screen to complete the reforging process.

Un-Reforging

Since item stats can only be reforged one at a time there may come a point along the way where the player decides they would like to choose another stat to add or they may simply want to restore the item to it’s original state. In order to do this simply take the item back to the Arcane Reforger and once again place the item into the box in the top left corner of the Reforging screen. Once the item is placed all the player need do it simply click the Restore button located at the bottom of the screen next to the Reforge button.

WoW Archaeology Profession Walkthrough

There are 12 fields of research players can explore, each relating to a race in the game, ie. Troll, Night Elf, Dwarf, Tol’Vir. Using the Survey skill players need to gather Archaeology Fragments of one type, ie. Dwarf Archaeology Fragment, from Archaeology Finds of the same type. They can then Solve the current stage of this race’s research and will receive an item upon doing so.

Digsites

Once you train archaeology, you can see digsites on your map (not your minimap – your map). There are always 4 digsites per continent. These will not change until you dig one out. Most of the time, you’re probably only going to be concerned with the 4 sites on your current continent, but at higher character and archaeology skill levels, there will be 16 sites active at one time (4 each in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Outland and Northrend.)

You will only find sites in zones of your level or lower. A level 25 player will have all 4 sites per continent in level 25 zones. (This means Outland and Northrend will have no sites at this time.) A level 80 player will have all 4 sites in any zone. A low level Kalimdor player might have sites in Ashenvale and Stonetalon, while a level 82 might have Uldum, Ashenvale, Stonetalon and Silithus.

Sites are race specific. You can usually guess the race by the location. Kalimdor tends to have a lot of night elf ruins. Eastern Kingdoms tends to have a lot of dwarf ruins.

Some races are only available on some continents (such as orc and draenei on Outland). You need to have a minimum character level and a minimum archaeology level to use these. Currently you can see them if you are a certain character level but can’t gather from them until your archaeology skill is higher. For Outland, the skill is 300. While somewhat consistent with other gathering skills, we think this is confusing and we will change it so that you don’t even see the digsites until your archaeology skill is sufficiently high. Tol’vir artifacts are the most rewarding, but also require near max archaeology skill to recover.

Some players are reporting some issues with digsites not showing up correctly. We’ll look into these bugs.

Unlike other gathering skills, digsites are player-specific. Other players will be searching in different locations. There is no competition for digsites.

Fragments

Each digsite can be searched 3 times before it despawns and a new site spawns. If there is a digsite somewhere too far away from you or otherwise inconvenient, just ignore it and hit the closer ones. You won’t run out.

To search a digsite, use the Survey ability. The survey tool will spawn and point in the approximate direction of the artifact. Red means you’re far away. Yellow means you’re close. Green means you may be within 40 yards or so. When you discover your find, you’ll get fragments specific to a particular race.

There are two main strategies to surveying. You can attempt to triangulate by moving around the outer edge of a digsite. (Like quest blobs, the digsites are not necessarily circular.) Other players just keep surveying, heading in the direction the tool points until they strike paydirt.

Remember, the thing you uncover is yours. There is no competition with other players and nobody can gank your node.

Artifacts

Whenever you get a new fragment for a race, you’ll start a research project. You can only work on one artifact per race at a time. When you have enough fragments, click Solve to complete that artifact. You won’t waste excess fragments — they will just start the next project. You can be working on one project for each race at a time.

Most artifacts are common. These give you a little bit of lore or flavor text and an item you can sell for a small profit (presumably to a museum!) The profit increases as the value of the artifact increases. You can estimate this by the number of fragments needed to finish the artifact. You will only find cheaper artifacts at low level, but you can find cheap and valuable artifacts at higher level (the reason for this is we want players to be able to find all the artifacts if they want to). You won’t find a second copy of a common object until you have found all the artifacts of that race. If you get stuck at a certain skill level of archaeology or character level, you may find an artifact more than once until you reach the next tier.

Some artifacts are rare. These always make a blue or purple item. Many of these have no in-game power and are toys or for flavor. Some of them are actual weapons and armor. The latter items are all bound to account. They aren’t heirlooms in that they don’t scale, but you can pass them around. So if you are level 80 and you find a level 60 axe, you can always have another character use it when they are level 60. You will never get a rare artifact more than once.
The future of Archaeology

We designed archaeology to be easily expandable, so we plan to add much more content in future patches, including new races to research (though to be fair, there’s a sizable amount of content already). We also have a feature that is not available on beta yet, that allows you to use your archaeology skill for a slight (think Fish Feast-level) bonus in the Cataclysm dungeons.

Update: You can currently gather fragments that are higher than your level (e.g. orc or draenei for many of you at ~100 archaeology) but you can’t complete artifacts yet until your skill is at 300. This should be less confusing in an upcoming build.

Archaeology is a secondary profession that will be released in the upcoming expansion, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

  • Intended as a casual profession for players to enjoy in their “downtime”.
  • Focused on locating, piecing together, and appraising artifacts unearthed by the Cataclysm.
  • Interacting with an artifact you find is similar to other gathering professions. It has been specifically stated that you will be able to track both Artifacts and your regular “tracking” for gathering professions. Instead of tracking individual nodes, you will instead search marked regions on the world map (a shovel icon when viewing an entire continent, or a red enclosed region when viewing a single zone).
  • Artifacts will go into a new artifact journal instead of your inventory.
  • Placing an artifact in your journal will allow you to “study” it and progressively unlock new rewards.
  • Unlocks unique rewards such as vanity pets, mounts, and other “toys”, with occasional rare quality weapons or armor.
  • Players will be able to read ancient runes found amidst ruins and in dungeons to provide themselves and other players with buffs.
  • Some items and discoveries will be heavily geared towards expanding the game’s lore, filling in plot holes, and documenting the history of the world as it was before the Cataclysm. Players will reportedly be able to compile what amounts to a lore database.
  • A mock-up of the Archaeology interface is presented as a hand-written journal, with a listing of artifacts, relics, and related reagents and tasks, as well as artwork and a description for each relic. Artifacts are also given a “black market value”, indicating that they can perhaps be sold for profit. There has been an indication that your journal may come with some form of “mini-game” to study findings.

Archaeology trainers can be found in the capital cities. Horde players learn Archaeology from certain NPCs belonging to The Reliquary faction, Alliance players do so at Explorers’ League NPCs.

  • Human female Darnella Winford

Another Revision of Justice Points Conversion

Blizzard’s have once again revised their Justice Point conversion as we draw closer to the release of Cataclysm, World of Warcraft’s third expansion. The purpose it seems is to make it easier for players to take part in farming instances before the expansion’s release. The new revised conversion rates go into effect in patch 4.0.1.
  • Emblems of Triumph = 11.58 justice points (up from 2.75)
  • Emblems of Frost = 11.58 justice points (up from 2.75)
  • Justice point cap = 4,000 points (around 345 emblems)
  • Justice points over cap = 47.5 silver each after patch 4.0.3 (down from 2 gold)

The official announcements were made by Blizzard on their site as follows:

“We’ve revised the Justice Points conversion rate for Emblems of Triumph and Emblems of Frost. When the upcoming 4.0.1 patch goes live, these emblems will be converted into 11.58 Justice Points (up from the previously planned 2.75 Justice Points per emblem). Justice Points accrued above the soft cap of 4,000 will be converted to gold at a rate of 47.5 silver per point (down from 2 gold per point) when patch 4.0.3 goes live.”
“The previous conversion rate was intended to devalue Frost and Triumph a bit to discourage some amount of farming and hoarding of points before the conversion, but then we came to the conclusion that no matter what we do people would be farming well above the softcap, and we shouldn’t try to make it more difficult for them to do so.”

Cataclysm: How to Attain Seahorse Mount

For the Beta Build 12604 (it’s the newest version out) there is a mount that makes me drool because if you are unaware, the level 80-82 zones coming out in Cataclysm, are underwater zones.  So, here is a bit of eye candy for those who love collecting mounts as much as I do. Heck in fact I collect nearly everything.. lol!

As you can see this bad boy is called an Abyssal Seahorse and I am REALLY liking how it looks.  It’s new, it’s exciting, and I must say it looks good with a player riding on it.  It’s been reported that the swimming animation is a bit jerky and the mount itself sits too high off the surface of the water.  Blizzard, I’m sure, will fix these concerns because I would really like to have one of these lovely little ‘sea ponies’.  There are lot of different colors in the Beta Build and those with different colored tack but it’s unsure right now how to obtain the different colors (make sure you click on the image to the right to see the larger version).  What is fun about these mounts is that, while after learning – via quest givers – how to walk and breathe underwater, you will be given a rather long chain quest to ‘catch and tame’ your very own Abyssal Seahorse Mount.  I can’t begin to tell you how exciting that is cause WoW to me at times can be quite mundane and this brings back the good old days.  I hope, due to the Huntress in me, that the mechanics of this idea is worked out well because I am still praying with all my heart that Hunters will be able to tame their own mounts.  My list of “Want to Tame Mounts” just gets bigger each day.

Subdued Abyssal Seahorse is a quest reward from The Abyssal Ride.

Location
Seahorse Mount
Erunak at Shallow’s End
Quest progression

1.  [81] Better Late Than Dead
2.  [81] The Abyssal Ride

Objectives

Lure and subdue an Abyssal Seahorse.

* Tie off the Seahorse lure
* Subdue an Abyssal Seahorse

Rewards

You will receive: 15g 60s

Abyssal Seahorse

Note:

After accepting the quest, go to the ledge near the rift and use the Braided Rope.

A stake has been driven into the rock, and a long length of rope draped around it. This must have some kind of purpose.

The abyssal lure will swim off into the fast-moving water, eventually getting itself snagged by a manta. Hold on to the rope as the manta takes a tour around the kelp forest by either swinging left, right, and holding on tight as prompted. Players start out at 100 grip and lose 20 grip each time they miss a prompted action.

The Great Feast Farming Guide

The Great Feast

The Great Feast is an extremely effective and helpful way to provide food buffs to your raid, second only to Fish Feast as far as raid food quality is concerned. This guide is written mainly with Horde in mind but applies to Alliance as well but with different flight-paths.

Also, if you are a skinner you’ll love getting the ingredients for this feast. I usually get between 60-100 Borean Leather each time I farm for 20 of these on my rogue.

Assumptions
• You are level 80
• You can do some form of AoE (this will only affect timing, not the mobs or locations)
• That you are farming for a full stack of feasts (i.e. 20 total feasts)

Ingredients
Chunk o’ Mammoth x20
Shoveltusk Flank x20
Worm Meat x20
Chilled Meat x40

Guide

Obtain: Shoveltusk Flank
Starting from Dalaran, get on the flight plan to New Agamand. Once there, mount up and ride along the coast south of Westguard Keep (Alliance Town). Every 40-70 yards there will be 4-7 Shoveltusks.

The mobs you will be killing are:
• Shoveltusk Calf (lvl 63-68)
• Shoveltusk Stag (lvl 64-69)
• Shoveltusk (lvl 63-68)

They are very low level so you should have no trouble blowing through them. Expect to spend about 10 minutes or so of killing to get 20 flanks. Once you have all the flanks, turn around and go back to the Westguard flight point. From there, take a bird to either Dun Niffelem or K3 for the Worm Meat.

Obtain: Worm Meat

Make your way to the cave where you get the oil for the Helm quest at Hodir. There are a reasonable number of mobs here with a fairly consistent repop rate. This will take longer then the Shoveltusk or Mammoth, mostly because you are single killing targets a lot of the time. I would say 15-20 minutes depending on luck and whether others are farming.

The mob you will be killing is:
• Ravenous Jormungar

At this point you have two options: You can either head outside of the cave and kill the roaming mammoths or (and this is what I do) you can hearth to Dalaran and get on the flight path to Borean Tundra.

Obtain: Chunk o’ Mammoth

I choose to go to the Tundra for three reasons. First, there are tons of Mammoth there. Second, I can blow through 40 Mammoths in the time it would take me to kill 10 in Storm Peaks and wait on the repops. Third, I can kill until I get my mammoth meat, walking North as I kill and then I get dumped right in the Basin for the Chilled Meat. Saves time.

The mobs you will be killing are:
• Mammoth Calf
• Wooly Mammoth
• Wooly Mammoth Bull

20 Chunks o’ Mammoth should take approximately 5 minutes.

From here, walk right into the Basin and kill everything there. They all drop Chilled Meat and you’ll get your 40 needed extremely quickly.

And there it is, you have the ingredients needed to food buff your raid. It takes me about 35-45 minutes including travel time to get all of these ingredients. In addition, you can make a handsome income once again if you are a skinner.

Easy Eggs At NobleGarden Event Guide

So Noblegarden week has started and everyone is out hunting for their Easter eggs to complete the “Noble Gardener” achievement and attain the much sought after “the Noble’ title. I have found the perfect spot in which you can stand in range of (6) SIX spawn points of Bright Colored Eggs (the ones you need to find in order to loot achievement items and also purchase event items). This is probably only for Horde cause you will definitely get ganked trying this as Alliance.

First of all you need to go to Falconwing Square in the Ruins of Silvermoon. At the north eastern side of the square there is a cart (35.5, 74.0). Position yourself as shown in the screenshot below so that you are standing on top of the middle fence post.

Refer to the screenshot below and the ‘red circles‘ for the exact spot where the Bright Colored Eggs spawn. You can stand in this spot and never have to move at all and yet you are able to click (and pick up) all 6 egg spawns. It is much quicker to camp here than run around as the spawn rate is quite high.

There is a trick that you can also do while waiting for spawns. Mouseover the spawn points (as denoted by red circles in the screenshot) and often you can see the mouse icon change to the loot icon a second before you actually see an egg spawn. If it changes to this icon, click it immediately. This can be extremely helpful if there happen to be others camping/farming the same spot as you will be looting the eggs as they only just see them.

Eternal Farming Locations

This is a work in progress guide to the various locations to farm eternals. I am going to focus on the best farming spots to farm all types of Eternals (Fire, Earth, Life, Shadow, Water) since they are high in demand:

Best Place to Farm Eternal Fire
If you want to farm Eternal Fire, the best place to do this is at 85,73 in Wintergrasp. Kill the Flame Revenants there. This is sometimes a heavy farming spot so you may want to come here during non-peak hours. There are also Raging Flames in this area…They don’t drop crystallized fire as often as the Flame Revenants do but it’s worth killing them while you are waiting for the flame revenants to respawn. Another good method is via Engineering cloud farming.

Best Place to Farm Eternal Life
The best place to farm Eternal Life is at 9,59 in Wintergrasp. Kill the Living Lashers there. If you use your tab key it will help you to farm these a lot easier.

Best Place to Farm Eternal Shadow
The best place to farm Eternal Shadow is at 17,50 in Wintergrasp. Kill the Shadow Revenants there as well as the Wandering Shadows. This can sometimes be a farely competitive farming spot so try to come here in non-peak hours. If you are a miner (which I highly recommend to make quick and easy gold), spend most of your time mining saronite…You will get TONS of eternal shadow this way.

Best Place to Farm Eternal Water
These are probably some of the easier eternals to farm as there are tons of mobs for these spread all over wintergrasp. The best place to farm Eternal Water is to patrol from 29,46 to 69,52. These mobs are in a huge C shape in Wintergrasp… Kill both the Glacial Spirits and the Water Revenants here.

Best Place to Farm Eternal Air
The best place to farm Eternal Air is in the southern region of Wintergrasp (patrolling from 22,63 to 68,73. Kill both the Tempest Revenants and Whispering Winds in this area.

Best Place to Farm Eternal Earth
The best place to farm Eternal Earth is at 71,58 in The Storm Peaks. Kill the Brittle Revenant there. This can sometimes be a competitive farming spot, if it is, go kill the Lifeblood Elementals in Scholazar Basin at 70,56. If you are a miner (which I highly recommend to make quick and easy gold), spend most of your time mining saronite…You will get TONS of eternal earth this way.

Deppending on your server, farming different Eternals can be better for you. For example, Eternal Fire is the best selling Eternal in AH at the moment on my server.

Have you found a spot that works well for you besides the above mentioned locations?

Ulduar Dwarfageddon Achievement – Solo

This video is a guide to show exactly how to solo the Dwarfageddon achievement in Ulduar. The video recorded is on the 25 man version, with a warlock that is geared in 10 Naxx armor just to reinforce how even the most undergeared players can obtain this achievement easily. Obviously 10 man version will not be an issue at all.

Your vehicle will be a lot better with the more combined item level you have. If you have all best slotted, you’ll be able to kill the Sentry’s in about 6 hits, otherwise as for the warlock, it took probably 30. Same with the nuking, you will only have to nuke twice to kill everything if you are well geared.

You can bring as many friends as the instance will hold to do this as well. I advise to only have a maximum of 2 people run out on bikes and clump dwarves, the other should ride passenger or just stay close in other vehicles. Too many people might split the dwarves too much and make you take longer than 10 seconds.

Most importantly, doing this will not get you saved to Ulduar. You yourself would have to not be saved to Ulduar already though and go into a fresh instance that hasn’t killed Flame Leviathan yet in order to do this event. You’ll have to invite a friend and form a raid to get inside, but after that you can drop raid and it wont kick you out and you can confuse the heck out of your guildies when your achievement pops up in guild chat. Here is the video:
