Around Azeroth: Everybody knows that the bird is the word!

The most impressive thing about this picture is not that Varraline of Pyreal Dream on Elune (US-A) managed to get three tallstriders together in one shot. No, it’s that Varraline has somehow coordinated an entire purple and green Darkmoon Faire outfit to match her mount. And it’s not just the outfit — it’s the whole picture! The tent, the banner, the purple elf skin and the green fireworks. I salute you, Varraline, for your dedication to one of the ugliest color combinations possible, one that is only seen at the Darkmoon Faire, Wimbledon and Mardi Gras — three events where most of the people attending are too drunk to notice how awful purple and green are together.

Around Azeroth: According to cannon

It looks like the Eye of Sauron has found a new home in the rear vent of Orgrim’s Hammer. Or perhaps this airship, which is perpetually in motion and never seems to stop to refuel, can only be powered with the actual planet Jupiter. Either way, submitter Galdon of Elysion of Burning Steppes (EU-H) is about to get the remaining flesh seared off of his undead bones.

Around Azeroth: The closing of the year

Happy New Year, folks! Let’s hope your 2012 does not involve getting shot down over the enemy’s capital city. “I needed to sprinkle snowflakes on a troll hunter for Winter Veil, so I headed over to conduct an aerial scouting run of Orgrimmar,” writes submitter Furfacedfred of Four Lights on Malfurion (US-A). “Luckily for me, the gunners manning Orgrimmar’s ground-to-air defenses were substituting enthusiasm and color for accuracy, though the Wind Rider patrols turned out to be a bunch of Scrooges.”

Around Azeroth: Not even close to the coolest Time Lord

“The end of End Time still makes me shed a small tear for Nozzie,” writes Halrandir of Midnight Cartel on Elune (US-A). “I’m fairly certain that for all his ‘the future is muddied and muddled and I can’t see what’s going to happen, it’s all up to the play — I mean, the champions now’ talk, he knows all along exactly what is going to happen to all the Aspects. Heck, he knows the circumstances of his own death, and they happen in a time line that doesn’t exist. At least Cassandra only had her loved ones and her life hurt by her predictions. Nozdormu knows the downfall of the entire world, and now he can’t do all that much to assist in stopping it.”

Around Azeroth: Being Archmage Malkovich

Sure, transmogrification sounded like a good idea, until the damn hipsters got hold of the technology. Now everyone is hanging around Dalaran wearing the same super-cool Netherwind Regalia sets, drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon and listening to Bon Iver. (Full disclosure: I went to high school with the dude from Bon Iver and he was actually pretty cool, but I will still make fun of his ridiculous beard. Sorry, Justin.)

Submitter Zorax of Area 52 (US-H) wonders how many Blackwing Lair runs it took for everyone to get their full sets, but really, it’s just a common effect of a potion you can find in the Underbelly. So folks, go ahead and drink any psychedelic drinks you find sitting around in sewers. What’s the worst thing that can happen?

WoW Moviewatch: Beautiful Azeroth

We’ve seen a lot of landscape tours of Azeroth; it’s a favorite subject for fans and machinimists alike. Beautiful Azeroth caught tipster Simon’s eye when it appeared over at Kotaku Australia. With such a gorgeous video making the rounds, there’s no way we could ignore it.

Beautiful Azeroth is intended to be a series. This first episode offers a sterling view of Kalimdor, soaring over the wreckage and growing copses with a reverent eye. The background music by Clannad doesn’t hurt, either. I suppose if any single artist really captures the heart of Kalimdor, it’d be Clannad or Enya.

Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.

Around Azeroth: I’m forever blowing bubbles

Baloria the hunter was getting a sightseeing tour when she realized that her dragon was blowing bubbles,” writes submitter Shofie of Zombie Candy on Elune (US-A). “Personally, I think it’s pretty talented of that dragon to be able to blow bubbles in the first place, considering they don’t have things like lips. But I’m amused that she was able to blow bubbles and fly in a straight line.” Better than trolls, who can’t even chew gum and walk at the same time. What? It’s not an insult. It keeps getting caught on their tusks.
