What happens if you break the WoW Annual Pass 12-month commitment?

Pop law abounds in The Lawbringer, your weekly dose of WoW, the law, video games and the MMO genre. Mathew McCurley takes you through the world running parallel to the games we love and enjoy, full of rules, regulations, pitfalls and traps. How about you hang out with us as we discuss some of the more esoteric aspects of the games we love to play?
The WoW Annual Pass is probably one of my favorite things ever to come from Blizzard. I’m going to be playing World of Warcraft for the next 12 months anyway, right? Now I’ve got a free mount, guaranteed access to the Mists of Pandaria beta, and a free copy of Diablo 3 waiting for me on release day. It doesn’t get much better for a die-hard Blizzard fan like myself. This deal is so awesome that I wouldn’t be surprised if more games were added to the bundle at some point in the future.
Many players have sent in questions to me about the legality of the commitment and how binding the 12-month commitment really is. What happens when you cancel your subscription to the WoW Annual Pass before your 12 months are paid for? What happens to your Tyrael’s Charger, free copy of Diablo 3, and beta access? Where do these perks go if you fail to meet your commitment?

Drama Mamas: Returning to hard-mode raiding after a break
Drama Mamas Lisa Poisso and Robin Torres are experienced gamers and real-life mamas — and just as we don’t want our precious babies to be the ones kicking and wailing on the floor of the checkout lane next to the candy, neither do we want you to become known as That Guy on your realm.
Bench-warming is no fun when you’re anxious to play, but how do you get off the bench if you aren’t able to practice? For people returning to raiding after a long absence or just trying raiding for the first time, WoW Rookie has your back. But what if you know the strats and the stats, but just want to avoid any spats caused by fighting for raid spots?
My problem isn’t much like the normal, in that not drama has really occurred it more of I would like advice in how to not cause any drama.
First off, I’ll start with what I feel is the core of my problem. I am the type of player who, while I can research and understand a fight and its mechanics, I need to experience it a few times before I comfortably do max DPS and survivability. Once I do get it, I get decent DPS and rarely die — probably not the best numbers for my class, but I definitely can pull my weight.

Shifting Perspectives: Balance druid gearing and stat break points

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Shifting Perspectives for cat , bear , restoration and balance druids. Balance news comes at you every Friday — learn how to master the forces of nature, and know what it means to be a giant laser turkey! Send your questions, comments, or something you’d like to see to tyler@wowinsider.com.
I think I have said it once before, but I swear I’ll end up saying each and every raiding tier: I do not like gear guides, especially best in slot lists. While it is good to have a list of gear that you want and a goal to reach for, aside from Graylo’s posts back in Wrath, I have never seen an actual list that is realistic. Yes, it’s nice to know what you’ll want to have once you’ve been farming a zone for months, but when you’re just starting out, you take what upgrades you can get. Period.
More so now with reforging, getting new gear is a huge PITA, and I’ve yet to see a gear guide that could actually help a player address those issues. I wouldn’t ever expect it to; it’s unreasonable to make a contengency plan for every single gearing combination possible. Plus, half the slots are always Get the only pair of X that drops in this raid or Get the tier gear. Duh.
What I do like, however, is information on gearing. Gearing can be tricky, and it’s nice to know some of the ropes so that you can make informed gearing choices. With that in mind, let’s talk about gearing.

Drama Mamas: When guild officers break up
If you have sent a letter recently to dramamamas@wowinsider.com, we didn’t get it. Please resend to robin@wowinsider.com, and use that email until we get the official Drama Mamas email sorted out. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.
Meanwhile, love is still in the air — in Azeroth, anyway, and today we have another love-themed letter. Last week we talked about getting together, and this week we talk about breaking up.
Dear Dramamamas.I am writing you, as I am in deep disarray. I recently broke up with my girlfriend, after a 2year long relationship. I know that is not much for many people, but for me it is. The relationship were kind of doomed from the start, as I was an army officer with hunger for adventure, and her a beauty with hunger for a settled life. When we met, we quickly found a common ground; World of Warcraft. We started playing together, and after a few failed attempts trying to find the perfect guild, we finally found this pristine little gem.

Director predicts Warcraft film will break video game movie trend

Last week, Badass News posted an article detailing an interview with director Duncan Jones in which the Warcraft movie was one of the main topics of discussion. Jones is the son of David Bowie and director of the impressive science fiction flick Moon, as well as Source Code, another sci-fi title being released later this year. Though the interview reveals nothing about the production of the Warcraft movie, Jones thinks that the film is going to break the ongoing trend of terrible film adaptations of video games.
In the article, Jones says he believes it’s possible to make a good adaptation — it just has to be approached properly. “A good game adaptation is where you find the story or the emotional aspect that’s at the heart of a computer game and you replicate that on film. It doesn’t mean you need to have first person perspective or try and capture the mechanics of a game,” he says.
Jones thinks the Warcraft film will be the film to break the mold because director Sam Raimi seems to be approaching the film correctly. “From the little I’ve read of interviews with him, the way he’s approaching it makes so much sense. It’s what I was talking about – it’s not worrying about how the game plays, it’s about creating the world of the game and investing the audience in that world.”
Jones explains that he’s a serious gamer himself and is skeptical about other directors who claim the same. He doesn’t think most directors have the time to be both hardcore gamers and filmmakers. Jones, on the other hand, says he stays up all night to accommodate his gaming habit and cites titles like Starcraft 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. He also says he’s looking forward to Diablo 3.
Jones admits that he’s “hugely jealous” of Raimi’s getting the chance to direct the Warcraft film; the writer of the article goes so far as to suggest that Jones have a chance at directing it, since Raimi set it aside to work on The Great and Mighty Oz. That’s not really quite how Hollywood works, though, so unless Raimi steps down from the project himself, I wouldn’t count on his losing the project just yet.
