WoW Monopoly, Starcraft Risk… what should come next? Tell us and win EVE
PC Gamer Magazine
Blizzard recently confirmed World of Warcraft Monopoly and Starcraft Risk. Exciting stuff for the collector, but I'm not expecting anything that inspired. They'll probably just be reskinned versions of the classic games. And why not?

Breakfast Topic: Has the time come for Outland story updates?

After Chris Metzen’s seeming joke at BlizzCon concerning the possible reappearance of Illidan in future WoW storylines, it occurred to me that we really haven’t seen much of Outland or its storylines lately. Well, maybe that’s not fair — if you’re leveling a character between 58 and 68, I imagine you’ve seen all too much of Outland and are heartily sick of the whole continent and its dungeons by now. Still, The Burning Crusade featured some great stories, and if Illidan ever does come back, there are a few people I hope he’ll (metaphorically) drag alongside him.

The two that come immediately to mind are the Netherwing Dragonflight and the Ashtongue Deathsworn. What’s up with the Netherwing since Deathwing’s demise? Do they even know about it or what’s happened with the Aspects? And what’s going on with Akama now? I’d argue that he, more than Kael or Vashj or Illidan, was the greatest and most compelling character of WoW‘s first expansion, and he had one hell of a unique model. The brains behind the Ashtongue’s high-stakes Batman Gambit (warning: TV Tropes link) has got to be up to something these days, and if Blizzard ever revamps Outland questing, I hope it gives players a peek.

Then again, that’s assuming that yanking Illidan back from the dead is even a good idea to begin with (is it?) or that Outland stories can be made relevant to their modern counterparts. Thoughts, readers?

WRUP: Come on, man, it’s the nineties

Going to BlizzCon? No? Why not? It’s the nineties! Everyone’s going to conventions these days!

Sure, it’s in Southern California, and for many of you, that’s a long way from home. But man, this is the nineties. They have planes now. And some of those planes even have air phones. You can hook up your 14.4k modem to one of those and connect to your favorite Warcraft 2 BBS. Maybe play a little Legend of the Red Dragon from 20,000 feet. Why not? It’s the nineties!

What’s that? You say it’s not the nineties — it’s 2011? Well, of course it is! I know exactly what today is. See this Casio digital watch on my wrist? It has the day, week, month, and year on it. Everyone’s got one — everyone, that is, who’s living in the nineties.

BlizzCon, the hottest event of the nineties, is coming up in a mere two weeks. So today, in addition to the usual question of “What are you Playing?” (Super Nintendo and Scattergories, obvi), I had our top-notch writers (many of whom have Tripod pages) answer a bonus question: “What terrific advice do you have for the go-go BlizzCon attending folks of the nineties?”

15 Minutes of Fame: Come one, come all to the astounding Traveling Museum of Debris

From Hollywood celebrities to the guy next door, millions of people have made World of Warcraft a part of their lives. How do you play WoW? We’re giving each approach its own 15 Minutes of Fame.

Back in October, we profiled triple-threat collector Drrum’s coordinated armor, pet, and mount collections, meticulously assembled and screenshot in complementary in-game settings. Last week, we chatted with collector Moonjade of Twisting Nether (US-A), who focuses on items somehow linked to game lore. This week, we complete our trifecta of collectors with an interview with a player who’s assembled an actual in-game museum — yup, curator-led tours and all — of unusual gray items and assorted oddities. Now, we get crazy emails all the time here at WoW Insider about all sorts of weird things that’ve been found in game … but man, I’ve never even heard of some of this stuff!

Pestle, who’s also GM of Infinite Asylum on The Scryers (US-A), manages the massive, multi-bank collection via Riplington E. Winchester III, the museum’s intrepid gnomish curator character. The list of random items that she sent me is so long that there’s literally no reader-friendly way to display it here (let alone the fact that it would take days to slap Wowhead links on all of it); we’ll stream it for you in paragraph form just after the jump. For a visual idea of the scope of this massive collection, click through the gallery below before joining us to chat with its curator after the break.
