How to transmogrify your mail wearer into a glimmering gladiator

Upgrading your armor proficiency in WoW is a pretty forgettable aspect of the game, but to the transmogrification enthusiast, it creates some potentially interesting looks for level-capped players who wear mail. Mail worn before level 40 is intended to be worn by warriors and paladins and thus has a very different aesthetic than the green and gray mail that hunters and shaman are accustomed to.
The look above is an all-mail set created with hunters and shaman in mind, especially those who are sick of looking like earthy animal lovers all the time. By combining a few utilitarian-looking accessories with several pieces from an extravagant level 30 armor set known as Glimmering Mail, we’re able to create the look of a flashy celebrity gladiator who is ready to win the crowd once more.
Want to recreate this look?

WoW Rookie: How to get back into WoW if you’ve not played since Wrath

New around here? WoW Rookie has your back! Get all our collected tips, tricks and tactics for new players in the WoW Rookie Guide. WoW Rookie is about more than just being new to the game; it’s about checking out new classes, new playstyles, and new zones.
Welcome back to WoW! So, you’ve not played the game since some time in Wrath of the Lich King, right? All right, let’s start at the top with the key lore changes you need to know. The Lich King is dead. A bunch of heroes got together to watch Tirion Fordring kill him. It was sad, and it became even sadder when Bolvar Fordragon stepped up to be the new Lich King.
Since then, basically, dragons have been going to nuts all over Azeroth. Deathwing went on this long flight across Azeroth, changing up zones and radically altering talents for every class. He also flapped his immense wing and littered new loot all over the place.
Of course, now that you’re back to the game, you want to get up to speed right away. Here are the things you should make sure to hit along the way.

Arcane Brilliance: Blinking into the Mists of Pandaria talent calculator, the epic conclusion

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Arcane Brilliance for arcane, fire and frost mages. This week, we finish our conversation about things that may or may not ever happen, and even if they do, they won’t for a very long time. Man, I love wild speculation.
This week, because they hate me, and because I actually had something written in advance for once, Blizzard went and stealth-updated the MoP talent calculator with no warning whatsoever. I submit that from here on out, Blizzard needs to give me at least a week’s notice before they make significant changes to the game or any of its future versions. I think it’s only fair, since mages are getting the ability to Alter Time, that we get just a little bit of a jump on the future. I have deadlines to meet, people! Work with me here.
The good news is that the majority of the changes appear to have been made to the part of the talent calculator we haven’t discussed yet: the actual talents. If you missed them, here are the first two parts of this discussion:
And now, if you click the link below, you’ll magically teleport to part three. No, I won’t port you to Org. Stop asking.

Arcane Brilliance: Blinking into the Mists of Pandaria talent calculator, part deux

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Arcane Brilliance for arcane, fire and frost mages. This week, we teleport ourselves back into the thick of the newly revealed MoP talent calculator, and this time, we aren’t teleporting out until we get that calculator down and it drops phat loot.
I trust you’re all knee-deep in patch 4.3 by now, snatching up sparkly new gear from the new dungeons, raid, and Darkmoon Faires and such, and then promptly transmogrifying that gear to look like something you wore five years ago.
Last week, we talked about the baseline abilities that all mages will be learning. If you skipped it for some reason, kill a warlock as penance (I’m not sure how that could be considered a punishment, but just stay with me here), go read part one, then come back and resume the conversation with us this week.

Encrypted Text: Turning murder into legendaries

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Encrypted Text for assassination, combat and subtlety rogues. Chase Christian will be your guide to the world of shadows every Wednesday. Feel free to email me with any questions or article suggestions you’d like to see covered here.
Patch 4.3 is now live, and with it comes plenty of new additions. You can spend your time playing games at the newly revamped Darkmoon Faire, or you can play dress-up by transmogrifying your old tier sets. The developers buckled down and cranked out three new dungeons, complete with a plethora of new gear and valor point options. The new dungeons are also bristling with new lore moments and plot exposition, giving us insight into Deathwing’s madness.
But you’re not here for that. You’re not reading this post because you can’t wait to hear what fashion style I’ll be transmogging to. (A pirate, FYI.) You could care less about tossing rings or commanding tonks on Darkmoon Island. Dungeon guides can wait. If you’re as black-blooded as I am, then there’s only one thing on your mind: Who does a rogue have to kill around here to get a pair of legendary daggers?

Arcane Brilliance: Blinking into the Mists of Pandaria talent calculator, part 1

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Arcane Brilliance for arcane, fire and frost mages. This week, we have all kinds of talents to talk about. New talents, old talents, old talents with new talent scent, talents that look new but smell old, old talents that kill warlocks in new ways, cupcakes that taste like cranberry sauce, skillets that cook pastries that look like this … I may or may not have eaten too much pie this week.
Ok, we’d better get started. Lots to talk about and not much time or space with which to discuss it. I assume you’ve all had a chance to fiddle with the Mists of Pandaria talent calculator Blizzard just put on the official site? If not, go look, then come back.
It’s interesting stuff. It’s important, I think, that I stress that even though this is an official, Blizzard-sponsored reveal, all of this information is pre-pre-pre-alpha stuff, and it absolutely will change substantially before any of it goes live. So don’t get married to the mechanics of any of these talents and skills as they’re presented here. Don’t squint too hard at the specific numbers, either. This is being presented so we can mull it over and give constructive feedback, and so that we can get a more detailed sense of the direction MoP’s major talent overhaul will be taking our beloved mage class.
So let’s get busy mulling.

Spiritual Guidance: A shadow priest’s first look into the Raid Finder

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Spiritual Guidance for discipline, holy and shadow priests. On Wednesdays, shadow priesting expert Fox Van Allen comes from out of the darkness to bask in your loving adoration and grant you one birthday wish …
Let’s start off today’s column with a question to you, the reader: How did you get your start raiding?
Me, I got my start in the PUG raiding circuit of yore. Someone would spam trade chat with their need for one ranged DPS for whatever raid instance happened to be in fashion at the time. I’d whisper them, hoping to snag that elusive slot (and believe me, as a DPSer, that slot was very elusive). Generally, I had no idea what I was doing while in the raids. I knew not to stand in stuff and to target whatever had the skull over its head.
I was a pretty lousy PUG raider. Let’s face it — we all were. PUG raids aren’t known for their rates of success. Which is why I was intrigued when Blizzard announced its new Raid Finder system, coming in patch 4.3. Could Blizzard have found a way to make PUG raiding … bearable?
