WoW Magazine ending with issue 5

It looks like publication delays and deadlines were not the worst of the World of Warcraft Official Magazine‘s troubles. Issue 5 of the oft-late magazine will be its last, and subscribers have been sent emails with redemption codes for a refund or a package of the six pets from the Blizzard pet store. You are apparently only allowed to get a reimbursement if you request it in writing by Sept. 30, so check your email soon if you are a World of Warcraft Official Magazine subscriber.
The World of Warcraft Official Magazine was a pretty cool resource when it came out, but with print media for a game that changes so often and critically as World of Warcraft, the magazine just could not keep up. It is a shame, however, to see anything of this caliber end. I think I speak for a lot of readers and WoW fans when I say that the magazine had a lot of potential.

Final issue of Curse of the Worgen now available

Curse of the Worgen is a pretty cool look at the worgen story and the lead up to Cataclysm from the Gilnean point of view, and the series’ final issue is now available. Not only that, but to celebrate this great series coming to an end, Blizzard has a treat for everyone — hi-res wallpapers of each of the Curse of the Worgen covers.

Gawker hack prompts Blizzard to issue password reset

The hacking of Gawker websites earlier last week has prompted Blizzard to issue a security alert and emails requesting that certain users reset their battle.net password. These emails, sent to your Battle.net account, request that you log into Blizzard’s account management and reset your password via the provided tools.
Earlier we reported on these emails as phishing attempts. This turned out to be incorrect. At the time these emails were recived by members of our staff, there was no word from Blizzard on them, and such attempts at phishing out WoW account passwords are common after well-known hacking attempts.
Nonetheless, it is imperative that everyone uses an authenticator and employs good password security. Always watch what the links you go to are, and don’t use the same password for multiple sites — and especially for your WoW account. If you do have an account with a Gawker website, it’s recommended that you reset your Battle.net / World of Warcraft password.
Blizzard’s full statement after the break.

The Queue: The one where we issue a retraction

Welcome to your daily dose of The Queue. With Mike, Alex and Adam busy, their precious Queue was once again left unguarded and captured by the adorable Fox Van Allen. All members of the Van Allen faction shall enjoy a 5% buff to damage and experience for the 24-hour duration of this Queue, and Spirit Shards may now be collected.
Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m not back running today’s The Queue just because yesterday was, like, the most awesome edition of all time. I’m back because there’s serious work to be done.
You see, sometimes, in the rush to break a story, those of us here in the “media” jump to judgement. We make mistakes. As such … The Queue would like to make the following retraction:
That drunk girl in a Boston bar did not think Mike Sacco‘s hair smelled like girls’ hair. She thought it smelled better than girls’ hair. We apologize for the error. (And not just because it means we get to reuse the Mike Sacco has girl hair tag.)
Dudegar asked:
How are flight paths handled in Cataclysm? Are they changed much? If so, if I have all the flight paths in the old world at the moment, are they going to reset in Cataclysm and I will need to grab them again? Or are they automatically adjusted?
