Battle.net undergoing emergency maintenance

Moments ago, Daxxari announced that Battle.net is coming down for immediate urgent maintenance. Players logged in to Battle.net should be able to play as normal, but the system may prevent people from logging on. Maintenance is expected to last from 2:30 p.m. PST to 4:30 p.m. PST.

Daxxari announces urgent Battle.net maintenance

We will be performing an urgent maintenance on Battle.net which may prevent players from logging into the system. Players who are currently logged in should be able to continue to play normally.

We expect this downtime to begin at 2:30 p.m. PST and end at approximately 4:30 p.m. PST. Thank you for your patience while we improve the Battle.net system.

Maintenance extended until 2:00 p.m. PST

Realm maintenance has been extended until 2:00 p.m. PST 1:00 p.m. PST today (4 p.m. EST, 3 p.m. CST). It’s the week after a major content patch, so it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to anyone.

We recommend catching an episode of Community on Hulu while waiting for the realms to come back up. Actually, we don’t — I do. Hopefully, this makes up for the terrible faux pas I made in The Queue today.

We’ll update this post with any additional information we come across. Otherwise, just hang tight!

Update: 1:00 p.m. PST — Maintenance extended until 2 p.m. PST.

Extended Regularly Scheduled Maintenance
10:10 a.m. PST – We will be extending the regularly scheduled maintenance time in order to perform additional database checks. We anticipate all realms will be available at approximately 1:00 p.m. PST.

Realm maintenance for Tuesday, Nov. 29

Realm maintenance this week is an eight-hour stint beginning at 1:00 a.m. Pacific and ending at 9:00 a.m. Pacific for all U.S. realms. This maintenance includes the game as well as many of the web services; we may be looking at a little forum downtime with the game downtime tomorrow morning.

While there’s been no official announcement, the eight-hour window may indicate that we’re looking at the release for patch 4.3 tomorrow, which would set us up nicely for the new Darkmoon Island event the following week. If you’ve been patiently (or not so patiently, like me) waiting for void storage, transmogrification, new instances, new raids and more, you may not have much longer to wait.

We will be performing scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, November 29th. Maintenance will begin at 1:00 AM PST and conclude at approximately 9:00 AM PST. During this time, all realms and many web services will be unavailable.

Breakfast Topic: What do you during Tuesday maintenance?

While a good portion of WoW’s players hold down full-time jobs or are in school full time, there are those of us who work from home, are stay-at-home parents or have a rotating schedule and wind up with a Tuesday off. Unless it’s a patch day, everyone knows that come 5 a.m., regardless of whether you’re ready or not, you will be logging off for the morning. For people on the east coast like me, that usually means my morning and part of my afternoon.

What do you do if you’re home during Tuesday maintenance? When I know I’ll be home when the servers are down, I plan to spend the first half of my day taking care of things around the house and running any errands I might have. My daily routine doesn’t change much when Tuesday rolls around, aside from getting a few more things done. Having three high-strung dogs means lots of walking, throwing of the squeaky toys, and attacking the carpets with the Dyson vacuum. If there’s a movie I’ve been wanting to see for a while, I’ll pick it up and watch that after the dogs pass out. When the servers go down, I treat it like I would if I were taking a break for a few hours or a few days and take the opportunity to take care of my real-world obligations.

Servers coming back online following extended maintenance

World of Warcraft realm servers are coming back online now, after extended maintainance and the implementation of patch 4.1, Rise of the Zandalari. Get on and start smashing some trolls — you know you want to.

Extended maintenance announced for Tuesday April 26

Barring force majeure, it looks like patch 4.1 lands tomorrow, folks. Not only is the 4.1 trailer out, Blizzard has also announced extended maintenance for all realms for Tuesday April 25, beginning at 3 AM PST and ending at 11 AM PST. Expect it to last longer, as patch day maintenance usually does.

WoW Moviewatch: What Happens During Server Maintenance

Ever wonder about What Happens During Server Maintenance? You don’t have to wonder any longer. Wowcrendor has the answer for you. It turns out that Blizzguy cruises through Stormwind and applies some gentle pressure to vendors who are late on their rent. He also checks in with the banks and bosses, applying nerfs and buffs as necessary.

This video is a lot of fun. Wowcrendor has expanded his portrayal of NPCs across racial leaders and holiday characters. Wowcrendor is always amusing, and I like the mythology he’s creating here. I’d actually like to see this series continue; I could see lots of cartoon-like hijinks happening. By the way, if you don’t recognize her, Princess Rawrbug plays Sylvanas.

Surprise! Urgent maintenance today

Today (well, today if you’re reading this on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010, which you probably are) there will be some surprise downtime in order to correct a technical issue. There’s no indication of a client patch or anything like that, just some good ol’ standard downtime from 8am EST / 5am PST until 2pm EST / 11am PST.

If things get extended, we’ll let you know about it.

Blizzard — Maintenance
We will be performing urgent maintenance on all realms to resolve a technical issue. Maintenance will begin at 5:00 AM and conclude at approximately 11:00 AM PST.

Maintenance extended: 5:00 p.m. PST

Maintenance today has been extended until 5:00 p.m. PST. If history tells us anything, it’s that it’ll be extended a couple more times, so I wouldn’t really count on it being up just yet. But Blizzard always has a good reason for doing so, namely, getting the servers working correctly.

So sit back, enter our contests today, and catch up on everything that was and will be.

This post will be updated and bumped up to the front of the site as the situation changes.

Tuesday Morning Post: Elemental extended maintenance edition

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone. We’re barrelling headlong into the Cataclysm opening event, including fighting in the cities, so if you’ve been lax in logging on, now might be a good time to start. After all, there’s loot and achievements to be had, and stuff.

That said, you won’t be able to log on for a bit this morning, as the servers are going down for extended maintenance, from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. PST. Personally, I’m blaming this on the fire elementals. I bet they got into the hardware. Luckily, we got your back with lots of good stuff to read from the past week while we wait for the servers to come back up. Keep it right here with us, and we’ll get through the downtime withdrawal together, I promise. We have our usual list of hot topics and useful guides below.
