The Queue: Some notes …

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.

Everyone should go read Matt Rossi’s Know Your Lore: Brotherhood of the Horse. Somehow I managed to schedule it at 6 a.m. yesterday instead of 6 p.m. I blame my cat. He was annoying me during my morning routines.

In other news, did you know that Mat McCurley and Fox Van Allen will be hosting our live meetup at BlizzCon? Mike Sacco and Anne Stickney will be hosting our live podcast that night, as well. Should be tons of fun! We’ll be announcing the meetup details soon, so stay tuned.

JTrack3d asked:

Does Blizzard count it against you for submitting tickets against other players violating ToS?

Spiritual Guidance: More priest’s notes for healing The Firelands

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Spiritual Guidance for discipline, holy and shadow priests. Dawn Moore covers the healing side of things for discipline and holy priests. She also writes for LearnToRaid.com and produces the Circle of Healing Podcast.

This week, I’ll be finishing up my notes on the bosses of the Firelands. Pretty good timing, since some of patch 4.3′s content was just announced, don’t you think? Yeah, yeah, yeah — I know you’re too busy trying to figure out your transmogrified outfit, right? Well, don’t forget there is plenty of good-looking gear in the Firelands, too! I know that I’d definitely rank looking like a giant oven mitt in my top five.

First, I wrote about the first four bosses (Shannox, Lord Rhyolith, Alysrazor, and Beth’tilac) last week. This week, we’re wrapping up the final three. All my boss guides assume you know the basic mechanics of the fights already.

Spiritual Guidance: A priest’s notes for healing The Firelands, part 1

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Spiritual Guidance for discipline, holy and shadow priests. Dawn Moore covers the healing side of things for discipline and holy priests. She also writes for LearnToRaid.com and produces the Circle of Healing Podcast.

Well, class, I’m back. Mr. Matticus said you all were very well-behaved in my absence, and from what I understand, you got through all the work I left with him. Unfortunately, we’ve still strayed away from the curriculum, and there’s quite a lot of catching up to do if you’re to do well on your heroic assessment tests.

Now, I’ve put together this study guide for healing through the first four encounters in the Firelands. Does anyone know what those are? That’s right: Shannox, Lord Rhyolith, Alysrazor, and Beth’tilac. We’ll be having a practice test at the end of the week so I can see what sections we need to work on.

Patch 4.2: Rage of the Firelands guides and patch notes now available

Patch 4.2 is on the horizon as Blizzard has made guides and patch notes available for Rage of the Firelands, the next exciting chapter in the Cataclysm story. Players can go the WoW community website for content and feature guides on everything from the dungeon journal and Thrall’s epic quest Elemental Bonds, to Firelands armor set previews and explanations about the new daily quest hubs. Also available are the PVP content features, the developer balance changes and casual content blogs, as well as a dedicated section (that is not yet updated) for troubleshooting and known patch issues. Everything is available in one place, a new, comprehensive listing that Blizzard hasn’t really done for other patches before. It’s a really nice touch.

Oh, and there’s a whole bunch of official patch notes.

Here’s your definitive link guide to patch 4.2:

For PVPers, Blizzard has got you covered with loads of news:

  • Two new mounts, the Vicious War Wolf and the Vicious War Steed will be rewards for 75, 150, and 300 Rated Battlegrounds wins. They are even bind-to-account, so you can mail them off to your alts.
  • Season 10′s armor sets got a nice preview and are looking as ferocious as ever.
  • Before a new PVP season begins, the previous one has to end. Check out how the transition happens and what players who are expecting rewards from season 9 should be cautious of while the results are being tallied.
  • The War Games system got an overhaul and is back with patch 4.2.

Blizzard has had a lot to say about the newest patch and what it means for players:

  • Ghostcrawler went all out, explaining each and every balance change, spelling out what it means to be a developer on a game this daunting. Phew. Good on you, crabs.
  • Dave “Fargo” Kosak penned his first Dev Watercooler, discussing how patch 4.2 brings in a bunch of content for casual 85s and what Blizzard’s philosophy relating to the casual player really is. We were excited to find out that Fargo is now the lead quest designer for World of Warcraft!

Remember, happy patch day everyone.

The news is already rolling out for the upcoming WoW Patch 4.2! Preview the new Firelands raid, marvel at the new legendary staff, and get the inside scoop on new quest hubs — plus new Tier 12 armor!

Patch 4.2 PTR patch notes update for June 13

The patch 4.2 patch notes were updated again this evening. The updates aren’t particularly robust, it seems most of the major class changes are done and over with for this patch cycle, but we’re seeing more bug fixes and technical information showing up in the notes. For example:

  • Players should no longer incorrectly receive a message stating they interrupted a spell cast when they did not.
  • Anshal’s Soothing Breeze should no longer cause combat pets to behave erratically in Throne of the Four Winds.
  • The Blizzard Launcher now utilizes Universal Plug and Play for port configuration. If your router supports UPnP it will automatically open the ports that it requires and your downloads will be unrestricted.

The full patch note updates are behind the cut below — and they include a clear explanation of what will happen with your currency in the patch.
