The Queue: Butterfly Wings

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Due to Alex Ziebart’s having duplicates of the film I thought I’d destroyed, I (Matthew Rossi) will be fielding your questions today.

Human beings, or butterfly wings? I have yet to find the trigger for happiness. In the meantime, I’ll answer questions!

Shrikesnest asks:

So I guess the DMF is up on the PTR today. Anybody wanna save me an enormous download and just tell me whether Tier 3 look-alikes are available through them? I wanna know if I need to run Naxx-25 on my priest or not…

As of right now, the only replicas available at the Darkmoon Faire on the PTR are the Dungeon Set 1 and 2 replicas. I spent over an hour combing the place just in case, and nope, if you want the original Naxx models you’re going to need to either have them already or wait and see if Blizzard puts them on the DMF vendors at some point.

Around Azeroth: Threadbare wings

I know it’s just a graphics glitch, but I still want this mount. Deathinabox of Bløw Trees Kill Alliance on Dragonmaw (US-H) was riding through Uldum when he discovered that his windrider had become substantially more insubstantial than was normal. Not pictured: Deathinabox and his mount plummeting to the ground after the universe realizes that a creature whose wings are full of holes cannot possibly support the weight of a tauren male.

The Light and How to Swing It: Basic retribution cooldowns — when to pop your wings

Every week, WoW Insider brings you The Light and How to Swing It for holy, protection and retribution paladins. With the Light as his strength, Durin Mundahl takes on the foes of Azeroth with all the wrath of a retribution paladin. Feel free to send your retribution questions or comments to durin@wowinsider.com.

Hello, my Light-wielding brethren. Let me start off by saying that all of this information applies to patch 4.2 and the current state of retribution paladins. In future patches, this information may become outdated. Use your own Judgement when reading. Some side effects may include increases of a few thousand DPS on target dummies and an overall feeling of ecstasy. Working as intended.

After my last article, I got a few emails asking basic questions about retribution paladins and how to play them. I get questions like What’s my rotation?, How is your damage so high?, and Why do you keep pulling aggro? pretty frequently. When I’m not trying to convince my guild it’s the tank’s fault I’m pulling aggro (even though it isn’t), I try to explain to people that the key to doing good damage nowadays comes mainly from cooldown management, much like a lot of other classes — but I’m not writing about mages or warriors here.

Patch 4.2 Daily Quests: Call the Flock, Wings Aflame, and Rage Against the Flames – Joystiq

Patch 4.2 Daily Quests: Call the Flock, Wings Aflame, and Rage Against the Flames
Joystiq
Rage Against the Flames follows the most basic quest type in World of Warcraft: Kill seven invaders from the Firelands. Sure, it's not complicated. Sure, it's not the most prestigious job. The description from Matoclaw sums it up best, for me: Of all

Patch 4.2 Daily Quests: Call the Flock, Wings Aflame, and Rage Against the Flames

Ragnaros’ minions are on the move in Hyjal in patch 4.2, and it is up to you to push them back to their fiery domain. These two quests take place near the Grove of Aessina and the Whistling Grove, the site of some of the game’s most adorable quests in which players save little forest creatures. Now, the druids of the flame and their Firelands friends have set up shop, returning to burning down everything in their path. A portal to the Firelands has sprung up, with the promise of delivering more hurt from beyond Hyjal.

Remember, there are mild spoilers about quests launching with patch 4.2, so please be warned if you’re particular about that sort of thing.

Today, we’ll look at:

Around Azeroth: On wings of lag

Saikora of <Champions of the Dawn> on Eonar (US-A) writes, “Who said farming for archaeology dig sites is a bore? While out surveying in the Burning Steppes, I managed to dig up an epic lag buff, which came 2200ms stacked! Of course, lag of that magnitude makes magical things happen, and so this pally decided to gracefully gallivant through the skies of Dun Morogh, taking in the scenery. Sadly, not even the Light (or an ill-attempted bubble) could save her fall from grace in the end. But the chance to fly solo for a minute was well worth the repair bill!”
